The rough start was the IV ordeal. Eric went with Amelia back to put her iv in and get her blood work done. Well after about 30 minutes he came back and said they couldn't get it in. Ugh. So I sent him and Grandpa Rich down to eat while we waited for another nurse to come put it in. We thought it would be awhile but it was actually only about 10 minutes so I got to go with her the second time. Her arms would turn red so fast that it was hard to find where her veins actually were. After a few tries they did find it and got it done. The nurses did a great job but it was still really hard to listen to her scream. She did however really enjoy the sweeties (sugar water) when her paci was dipped in it. Eric wants to load up on that stuff for home. After we got her calmed back down they did an EKG and I fed her- she was starving! It's funny to be back at the hospital feeding her with those small bottles. The first time I ever fed her she ate maybe 1/2 an ounce- yea this time she downed two bottles that were two ounces each. I know it's only been 3 weeks but it's still funny to think about.
We'll be mostly hanging out for the rest of the day/night- trying to make sure she's as comfortable as she can be. After surgery she'll have a chest tube and be on the ventilator but hopefully she'll be able to come off of that sooner rather than later. We've gotten so much information and it's almost impossible for me to remember the names and titles of all the things that are going to happen- but I'll update when we are through tomorrow.
I know I've said it in every post but really we are so thankful for all the thoughts and prayers and support we have received. We are confident in our surgeons and medical team and know that she is in the very best hands- scary as it is for her mother :) Thanks again!
Love- Amy, Eric, and Amelia
