Back to the Hospital

Today was full of excitement as we went back to the hospital at 5:30 a.m. Baby Amelia screamed for five and a half hours last night. The doctors told us that elevated blood pressure over an extended period of time could cause problems for the newly healed aeorta, so we decided to go to the emergency room and make sure. The x-rays and echo scan show that Amelia's heart is doing just fine. However, we have no answers as to why she is being super-crazy.

Amy and I have several theories. Amy and I both believe that it might be acid reflux. Amelia spits up a lot after eating and goes nuts.

I believe she might be possessed by the devil or other evil spirits. Amy thinks I'm crazy. I don't want to rule anthing out. I'm looking for an old priest and a young priest for an exorcism. Amy is looking for quality mental help for me.

  1. Amy,

I just caught up on what you're going through and my heart goes out to you. I have two boys, Grant is 20 mo and Charlie is 2 mo. Grant spent some time in the NICU when he was born and it was the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with! He had some breathing problems that eventually cleared up on their own.

It sounds like you and Eric have been strong...just remember to be there for each other, it's hard when things are so stressful.

I understand your aprehension about having her home...we went through the same thing, checking on him every 10 min to make sure he was still breathing! Grant also had reflux, but it was easily soothed with some baby-strength Prevacid...he took it for like 60 days and then he didn't need it any longer. At 6 mo he started having chronic ear and lung infections, at 9 months he had tubes put in his ears and at 15 mo he had his adenoids removed. We're still dealing with chronic ENT infections, but it seems to be getting better.

I'll be praying for you and your beautiful new family!! It's amazing how your whole world changes when you have a baby. Congratulations and things will get better : )
